Reflecting the Year: 2010

I just wanted to start this post out by saying: thank you to all of the people who comment on my blog. I truly appreciate it. It makes my day! Also, thank you to the people who follow my blog. I really, really appreciate it.

The year, 2010, was a year filled with changes and new discoveries. Good changes and good discoveries. I've been applying to new schools this year. I have been blessed with new friendships this year, who I love. I took my first exams this year. I've learned so much. I started a blog (Which I never thought I would do)! I started a band with my best friends(The Flashcards!!!). I could list millions more, but this would be a very long post. A lot of discoveries and changes have changed me personally in a positive way!

2011, I hope will be a year of new adventures and new discoveries. I can't believe its only 2 more days till 2011 already! I remember in kindergarten, when we got back from school after the New Year, which was six years ago, I remember thinking that 2011 would never come. It's amazing how time flies by. I can't believe it's 2 days till a new decade.

I have stepped out of my comfort zone this year many times. Like playing basketball or making a stand to play GE instead of dreaded soccer. This year I have made a lot of my thoughts into actions. I am happy about that! I have done a lot of things this year that I never thought I would do!

Knowing that it is almost 2011 makes me happy and scares me at the same time.  It makes me happy because it is a new year, which means new adventures. It scares me because people believe that in the year 2012 the world is going to end. I really don’t believe in this prediction, but you never know what could happen. Maybe they are right. Maybe they are wrong. But, I believe that only God knows, so I can’t ponder about it because I have no control over that. Anyways, in 2012 my sister, Ange, is going to graduate from high school. It makes me sad because I am close to my sisters and obviously she is going to live at whatever college she goes to. But, I guess that is a new adventure in itself.

If I had to name the year 2010 I would title it: New Adventures and New Discoveries!

If you had to title the year 2010, what would you title it? Why? How was your Christmas?

Basketball and Vacation Time!!

This is a strange post because I have combined two posts in one. First, the post you are going to read about will be about my basketball game. My Second, is about what happened today.

Girls B team (which I am apart of) had their first basketball game. You are probably wondering why I said I was a part of a basketball team if you read my last post about how I wanted to do swimming. Your answer is: I never switched back to swimming. I am now and until spring, playing basketball. I love basketball now.  Now, let’s talk about the game. Our team did very well for our first time playing with each other. We have only had 4 days of practice before this game and 2 of them were try outs(Which means we didn’t actually learn how to play basketball).

The game started out by our team scoring three points. Then the other team got upset and was more aggressive towards us. But, after a while they got ahead of us and then at the end of the game we had an even score. I attempted to make some baskets. It didn’t turn out though.

During this game, one of my teachers, Mr. C, was working the score board. Every time our team needed someone to sub. He would have the score board make a beeping noise. After the first beep Mr. C rang for our team, the ref came over to Mr. C and yelled at him for pressing the beep button. He said to Mr. C “WHENEVER YOU PRESS THE BUTTON I LOOK AT YOU TO SEE WHATS GOING ON. YOU HAVE TO TELL ME FIRST IF YOU ARE GOING TO WANT TO SUB. SOMEONE!” Mr. C said, “Sir please doesn’t scream at me.” The ref replied “I AM NOT SCREAMING (Which he obviously is)!!! AND DON’T CALL ME SIR. CALL ME M..” With our hearts pumping rapidly we look to Mr. C and he got up and said “M, please don’t talk to me this way. I will stop making the noise just calm down.”

The ref walked away mad. After that event happening in the game, he called every little foul he could find with our team. It was disappointing. He favored the other team.  Every time he had to give a command to Mr. C he always yelled at him while pointing at him. At the last 4 second to go of the game, our team made a score which made have an equal score to the other team. The ref, out of nowhere, made everyone play for 7 more seconds because someone stepped on a line on the other side of the court that we were playing on. So we added 7 seconds and the score came out to 22 for both teams! What a game!

Vacation time!

Today was my last day of school for 2 and a half weeks!!!!!!!!!! It was the best day of eighth grade yet (Besides our trip to Washington D.C.)!!!!! I'll tell you why...

I'll tell you each of my classes and what we did in each:

First, I had history, which wasn't as fun as the other classes. In history we worked on our power points and read an article. Then, we had a free time to do whatever we want.

Second, I had Latin. Let me just say, every Latin class I have is full of laughter and fun so today was even more fun than usual. We watched a famous comedian on YouTube. Every other word he said was a swear. It was sort of funny. Then we  just talked about Christmas. What a great class!

Third, I had science. We did this really cool experiment. It was very interesting and fun!

Fourth, it was Math. We just talked the whole time and did a fun worksheet.

Fifth, it was English(Which is already full of good times and laughter). We watched a TV show called Pengu. I have never heard of it before, but it was funny.

Those are all my classes, but after all of them we had advisors and clubs. In Advisor we did a complicated work sheet full of mazes and etc.. Then, finally, the best part of the day, ROCKETRY!!!!!! Our rocketry club was so much fun because we launched our rockets and they went very, very, very high! Some of them even exploded!

What a great day!!!!!

How about you? How was your day? What did you do?

Dinner with M.G.!

Although I wrote a post yesterday, I just needed to write another one today. Well, as the title says, I went to dinner with my mom and one of her really good friends M.G. after my final Annie performance. She is a very sweet and nice woman.

A couple of funny things happened after the play and during the dinner. At the play, after the performance, my mom went up to the pianist and said "You look so familiar? Where do I know you from?" and the pianist listed all of the possible places my mom could have known him from and M.G. blurts out "Well, it doesn't matter where you know him, but he is cute." I didn't respond. He blushed. Then she yelled "He is cute isn't he? I know, but he should date you or Ange (my sister). Would you date him?" I just pretended like I didn't hear her. It was so acquired. I hope he didn't hear her.

Then, my mom, M.G., and I went to a nice Italian restaurant. It was DELICIOUS. Well, while M.G. was eating her dinner, she stuck her fork into her pork chop, and it flew off the dish and hit the waitress on her leg. She (M.G.) started to laugh and hid her face behind her napkin, while the waitress gave her the evil eye the rest of the dinner.

After that incident, there was another one. I told her my best friends and I started a band called the Flashcard (isn't that such an amazing name?). Jen, Dani, and I are the people in the band. Jen made up this song called What Type of Sweater? It is an amazing song, just to let you know, and she said to me after I told her about the band,"That is such a cool name for a song? Would you sing it?" I said "Well, I'll definitely sing it for you later. Just not in this restaurant." she replied "Okay! You don't have to but definitely later!"

As I was singing the song in my head, I just thought why not sing it no one is going to care! I said to her "I'll sing it for you actually." I started singing it and if you know me I get carried away with everything. As I get to the middle, I started like break dancing in the middle of a well known restaurant. Then, after the song, I hear other people clapping for me in the back ground and I said "Oh- thanks..!" (While being deeply embarrassed on the inside, wanting to disappear from the resturant for that second. Then, I didn't care that people listened because one day Jen, Dani, and I are going to have to preform in front of many people). M.G. was proud of me!

M.G. is so much fun and when ever your with her, you’ll know you will have a good time!

Finally, the Dance and the Musical!!

Today was the first night of our middle schools production and my first eighth grade dance. First, let me say tonight was THE BEST NIGHT EVER IN MY EIGHTH GRADE HISTORY!!!!!!!!!! I was so ebullient.

The musical, Annie, was fantastic. I am the lights in Annie. It was fantastic, but there were some mistakes made during this show. Like, know how there is a dog named Sandy in the play? Well, the dog we had ran off the stage and ran to the other side of the theater. Everyone started laughing and though it was great! During one of my light cues (Which is just hitting button that says, GO) and I hit all of the buttons by accident (OOPS) but I thanked God nothing happened. Jen, if you are reading this, you did such a great job! At the end of the play, the fire alarms went off and everyone had to exit the building. I ran out of the building searching for Dani, Jen, and my family. During this search, TyTy and APG came up to me and I was like "WHERES DANI AND JEN?!!?!?" I had a heart attack since they were still in the building with the fire alarms still going off. But, ending up, someone pulled the fire alarm and Jen and Dani were fine.

On the other hand, the dance was AMAZING! Let me first tell you what a dance was like last year...

Last year, in seventh grade, a dance would be boring. Dani and I would just stand and talk (not dance, AT ALL). A lot of drama went on and we felt out of place, just standing in the middle of dancing people. We normally just sat down and watched.

This year, the dance was fun. The theme of the dance was black lights. Everyone wore a white shirt and colored themselves in highlighter so they would glow in the dark. When Dani and I first got there we were stiff and we felt like it would be like another dance, like last year. In minutes Dani started dancing and I was still stiff. Then, by the middle of the dance, Dani and I were dancing both dancing. It was a great dance! I will never forget it! I can't wait for the next dance!

Global Warming

Today, on the way home from play practise, my mom and I were talking about the topic, Global Warming. It is such an interesting yet strange topic filled with mystical theories.

People today think the world is going to end because of Global Warming. I do not believe in this theory. One, because it is freezing up here in CT. It is always cold but I don't remember the last snowy November. It hasn't gotten any hotter. Two, for man does not know when the world is going to parish, only God(That may not be your opinion but if you are Christian you follow the rule of only God knows when the world is going to end). My mom and I were having a debate of what we think is going to happen.

I said that there is a 50% chance of it happening or not. I only think it might because people have turned aways from there religions and don't have any values in life so it might end for that reason that people aren't safe in their own homes. Also, I believe the weather patterns aren't permanently changing. They aren't different in any means (besides it getting colder).I believe our technological use is EFFECTING the earth slightly but not destroying it in a way humans are bothered by it!

My mom said that people are taking advantage of mother nature. "Mother nature always wins," quoted from Sarah Palin on her show Sarah Palin's Alaska(My mom didn't actually use that quote. But, what my mom was saying was essentially is what Sarah said.) so if we are doing something we shouldn't be doing, mother nature willl rebel and win over us. We humans are at fault for using technology and for heating up the earth as a result of that (what my mom belives).

I have don't know what to think of this topic. I don't know if riding your bikes to school or taking a public transit is really going to do anything to help the earth. I think doing these "helpful ways to save the earth" is just going to put yourself in danger. I don't know why a sudden ponder of Global Warming came in my head. But it did!

What do you think of global warming? Is it to be or not to be?
I wanted to just say thanks to Brooke (An amazing person and blogger) for the award!! THANKS SO MUCH!!!

Embarrassing moments of my own!

A couple of posts ago, I wrote about the top three embarrassing mom moments. I have decided to write some of my most embarrassing moments. I have plenty more than four but, I don't want to write a 30 page posts so I am going to stick with four!

1. Yesterday morning was like any other morning.  My mom, sister, and I are in a rush to get to school. My sister and I go to different schools. My sister got out of the car and I was just not thinking straight and I got out of the car with her (Thank god my sister didn’t notice me because I would still be hearing about it). I walked up to the school entrance and was terrified that I just embarrassed myself to death by getting out of the car with my backpack on my back. I see my mom coming after me and when she arrived to me she said "what are you doing?" I said "I don't know but, I am kind of scared." I just had a weird moment.

2. About, a couple of months ago, I went to NYC for a regular fun trip. I used one of the bathrooms in M and M world. Just to add if you ever have to go to the bathroom, don't use the ones in M and M world because they are disgusting and the line is so long. Getting back to the story, I was in a tight stall and I swung my leg over to flush the toilet and I smashed my leg into one of those tiny garbage boxes for the once a month times and all of the used items and things went all over the floor. I didn’t know what to do because there was a very, I will repeat very long line out the door. So I just left the stall and left it to the next person. Sorry, to whomever it was.

3. About, two winters ago, I played tennis. So I was with my tennis pro. and we are playing a match. I was getting into it. I smacked the ball back and forth. I felt this energy build up in me. I needed to let it out, so I smacked the ball as hard as I could and I end up hitting my pro right on the noise. It started to bleed everywhere. I felt so bad. Every time I said I am sorry she said back "No, don’t be! You were playing excellent. This was an accident, don’t worry about it." Now when I play, I make sure I don't hit someone in the face.

4. Yesterday, I was in the lunch line with Jen, TyTy, and Dani waiting for my lunch. I do my normal routine. I get purell to de-germ my hands. While I was getting purell in front of the tray stand some guy was in back of me facing the other direction. All of a sudden while I was getting my purell I feel someone pinch my pants and I turned around, ready to slap the person in the face and he said, "What was that?" while he was turning around to see what he just did"Oh- I am so sorry!! I didn't mean to I was trying to get a tray!" I said in reply "It's okay..... Just watch what you are doing next time." Ughhh- That was so embarrassing.

Embarrassing moments actually help you in life and you gain strength from experiences. I have had a ton of embarrassing moments. I guess that what life is about. Especially if you are like me and you don't watch what you do.

Have you ever had an embarrassing moment?
